WHAT IS PLATINUM SEAL STRUCTURAL WARRANTY?
A structural warranty is an insurance policy designed to protect against defects in new holiday homes for a period of 10 years from the date is was manufactured.
WHAT DOES IT COVER?
The cover provided by the Platinum Seal Warranty includes:
Defects Insurance: You will receive defects cover for the first 12 months of cover. This provides protection against defects to all elements of your Holiday Homes and is provided by your manufacturer.
Structural Insurance: This makes up the main part of your warranty and covers against structural defect issues after the defect period expires for a further 12 months and is provided by your manufacturer.
Liquidation Cover: Should your manufacturer not be trading and unable to fulfill their obligations for the first two-years of your Warranty, the Platinum Seal insurer will take on the responsibility of your manufacturer for Structural Defects only.
Extended Structural Defects Insurance: A further 8 years cover provided by the insurer of the Platinum Seal Scheme for Structural Defects.
HOW IS A WARRANTY DIFFERENT FROM BUILDINGS AND CONTENTS INSURANCE?
A structural warranty is not the same as standard home insurance which is typically made up of building and contents insurance. Buildings insurance provides cover for damage to the property including fixtures and fittings like the kitchen and bathrooms as a result of fire, flood, storm etc. Contents insurance provides cover for loss or damage to personal belongings such as your TV, sofas and other valuable items as a result of fire, theft, flood etc.
A structural warranty on the other hand will only protect you against major defects resulting in damage to the actual structure of the building not general wear and tear.
WHAT IS LIQUIDATION COVER?
Liquidation cover is cover provided for the first two years of your Platinum Seal warranty should your manufacturer no longer be trading. Liquidation cover then enables you to claim for structural defects within the first two years, of which the insurer of the Platinum Seal scheme takes the responsibilty of your manufacturer.
HOW DO I REGISTER MY HOLIDAY HOME?

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR REGISTERING MY HOME?
It is your responsibility to ensure that your home has been registered with the scheme. The owner of the park may well have done this for you, but it is important that you ensure your home has been registered.
HOW DO I MAKE A CLAIM?
You can either make a claim using the online claim form on our website or by downloading a copy of the paper claim form and posting a completed copy back to us.
The process will vary slightly depending on what period of insurance your holiday home is currently under i.e. the defects insurance period or the structural insurance period. This is because different defects may be covered under the defects period which will be rectified by your manufacturer than the structural insurance period. Where only major defects resulting in damage to the structure of the holiday home will be covered.
IS THE WARRANTY TRANSFERABLE? AND IF SO HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Yes, there is a transfer fee of £50 applicable to the transfer as new documents will be issued to the new owner, however we will require evidence that the holiday home has had all necessary maintenance carried out when it was due to be carried out.
WHEN MAKING A CLAIM, WHY DO I NEED TO PROVE THAT THE HOLIDAY HOME HAS BEEN MAINTAINED?
All terms and conditions of the warranty must be followed in order to keep the warranty valid. The warranty does not cover defects as a result of a lack or maintenance or wear and tear.
IF A FAULT IS DISCOVERED IN THE FIRST TWO YEARS FROM THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE, WHY DO I NEED TO REFER TO MY MANUFACTURER?
Any faults found to a holiday home within the first two years are the responsibility of your manufacturer and not of the insurer of your Platinum Seal Warranty. It only becomes of interest to the insurer If your manufacturer is no longer trading and therefore falls within your liquidation cover of your warranty.
I WANT TO MODIFY MY HOLIDAY HOME, WILL MY WARRANTY STILL BE VALID?
Yes, however your warranty will not cover the work which was carried out as part of the modification or any defect caused as a result of the modifications carried out.
DOES THE WARRANTY COVER THE BASE OF MY HOLIDAY HOME, THE PATHS, AND THE SKIRT BELOW MY HOLIDAY HOME?
No, the warranty only covers the holiday home itself, any defect to the base, skirt or paths are the responsibility of your Park Owner/Park Operator/Land owner.
